Bučiuoju, Indrė! 💋

2025 April 15 d.

Hi, I’m Indrė.
Your dietitian and healthy lifestyle consultant, and today we’re going to talk about lifestyle changes and how to make them successful.

Do YOU want to change your eating and physical activity habits?

For the 12th year now, I have been asking this question to people who ask me how to lose weight as easily and quickly as possible. I often hear the answer: “I want to lose weight, not change something.” The result is wanted, but stepping out of the comfort zone is not.

The first thing to understand is this: by doing what we have always done, we cannot expect a different result. So I think it is clear right away that change will be necessary. What matters most here? Definitely not which rice we decide to eat or which gym we choose.

So let’s talk more about how and where to start changing, so we can hope for long-term success.

Talk to yourself. Why do you need this? Why is it important to you? What will it give you? Why do you WANT it?

Small steps matter. A large number of people follow the “all or nothing” approach. This means they decide to give up everything they have eaten so far and follow a strict diet. Why is this bad? If you suddenly take away everything you love, you will last for a very short time. You will create a strong sense of loss and start feeling sorry for yourself. And what do we most often use to comfort ourselves? Food. So overeating happens again. To avoid this, start making changes with small things: an extra glass of water, one changed meal, an extra 5 minutes of movement. This way, you will slowly get used to new things.

Do not stop trying again and again until it works. Often, after making a mistake, feeling lazy or eating something not so suitable, you decide: “That’s it, I failed. Today is a feast — I’ll eat everything, I won’t exercise, I’ll start tomorrow.” Do not do that. Return to your new habits as quickly as possible, do not be angry with yourself and try as many times as needed.

Small goals on the way to the main goal. Of course, you have a main goal and you want to achieve it. But be sure to break it down into smaller goals and praise yourself for each one you complete. It would also be great to reward yourself with a favourite cosmetic product, a book or maybe new sportswear. People joke that small gifts strengthen friendships, but I believe that small gifts to yourself greatly increase motivation.

Write things down. Keeping a diary is one of the main rules. Write down every bite and every exercise you do. This way, you will see your mistakes, but most importantly, you will eat much more neatly and snack less. That is simply how our mind works.

Everything counts. Even if you spent the whole day eating only junk food, the moment you realise it is not right for you, eat a portion of vegetables and protein, drink a glass of water, go for a 10-minute walk. Do not look for perfection. Try to be 1% more productive than yesterday, and step by step you will reach the best results. 5 minutes of exercise is better than none. One nutritious meal a day is better than none. Everything counts, so try, try, try.

Try new types of sport. That way it will not get boring, and physical activity can become fun.

Surround yourself with like-minded people. Follow people on social media whose lifestyle feels right to you, who inspire you, who you can discuss things with and who support you.

Enjoy the process and change for yourself. Not for your husband, not for a friend, not for anyone else. Only for YOURSELF.

Have a clear action plan. It is very useful to have clearly written rules, tips and a plan of when and what you will change.

I sincerely wish you not to stop, to believe and to take action. I promise that then your whole life will change — and only for the better, in every area.

Missing a clear plan? Right now, a special price is available for a set where you will find a highly successful 21-day nutrition plan that will help you gradually change your habits and begin the journey towards weight optimisation.
